TUTORIAL: METAHUMANS
Mixamo to Metahumans workflow using Unreal Engine 5.7
In this tutorial we go through a complete beginner-to-production workflow for animating a MetaHuman using Mixamo and Unreal Engine v5.7.
We start by creating a clean Unreal Engine project and enabling the required MetaHuman plugins. Then we generate a MetaHuman character and prepare it for export so it can be used outside of Unreal. Next, we upload the character to Mixamo, apply an animation, and download the animated FBX file. Back inside Unreal Engine, we import both the character and animation, and use Unreal’s retargeting system to transfer the Mixamo motion onto the MetaHuman skeleton correctly. Finally, we place the animated MetaHuman into a Level Sequence, making it ready for cinematics, presentations, or interactive scenes.
This workflow is fast, reliable, and perfect for creators who want believable character animation without complex rigging or traditional animation tools. What you will learn: - Setting up a MetaHuman project correctly - Applying Mixamo animations - Retargeting animation to MetaHuman in Unreal Engine - Creating a cinematic sequence
Who this is for? ArchViz artists, game developers, filmmakers, and anyone wanting quick character animation inside Unreal Engine.
